Traction

Traction literally means “pulling”. In other words, the aim of tractions is to offer the person a more comfortable life by removing the compressions in the spine, reducing excess pressure, eliminating the congestions and correcting the disorders. The traction method, which has been used for a long time and is an old method, is still used in various ways today. It can be done manually, that is, by hand, or with specially designed traction machines.

What effect do traction treatments provide?

While trying to reduce the pressure by removing the congestion in the spine with traction forces at the same time, efforts are made to lengthen the muscles and bones and increase strength. There are many vessels and nerves in the neck area. Therefore, as the congestion in this area is cleared and the load and pressure on these structures decreases, a decrease in pain and symptoms begins to be observed from the first sessions.

Especially due to the frequency of cervical disc herniations and their serious negative effects on daily life, neck traction is frequently used by physiotherapists, either manually or with traction machines. And it is preferred because it is painless.

How are Neck Traction applications performed and is pain felt?

How long or how long it will be applied varies depending on the disease and its duration, generally 10-15 sessions are continued; It is not expected to feel pain or suffering.

For the neck, tractions are performed while the person is seated or lying on their back. Selected session times, weights, and pulling force are adjusted according to the patient. Treatments using devices are more powerful and effective.
