WHAT IS A VOICE DISORDER?
Voice disorder is a disorder that occurs in one or more of the required parameters of the voice, such as loudness, shrillness and quality, and ultimately the person has a voice that does not comply with age and gender norms.
WHAT CAUSES SOUND DISORDER?
Vocal cords are a pair of muscle groups located inside the larynx (throat) and vibrate with breathing. Voice disorders can occur due to structural or physiological reasons, as well as diseases that cause disorders in both the vocal cords and laryngeal structure and functions.
Psychogenic voice disorders can also occur in cases where laryngeal anatomy and physiology are normal.
Voice disorders may occur due to misuse of the voice.
WHAT ARE VOICE DISORDERS?
Depending on the underlying causes, voice disorders can be listed as nodules, polyps, vocal cord paralysis, spasmodic dysphonia, aphonia, mutational falsetto, sulci in the vocal cords and muscle tension dysphonia.
HOW TO TREAT VOICE DISORDERS?
Identification of voice disorders is done by the ear, nose and throat physician, and rehabilitation is done by the language and speech therapist. After the disorder is diagnosed by the Ear Nose and Throat physician, a road map is drawn for the treatment process. Depending on the disorder, surgery/therapy/surgery and therapy are performed together.
